Boston’s Iyengar Yoga Happenings…

Boston’s Iyengar Yoga Happenings…

If you’re an Iyengar Yoga fan, someone who’s a beginner or has a regular practice and wants to know why I heart IY, here’s a couple of December Happenings…

Nancy Turquist, my teach, who’s teachings are the inspirations for many a Plank AAPP, the ability to use the yoga tools I learn in class and transform them into useful real world tools, has a couple of workshops at the IY HQ, Art & Soul, 91 Hampshire Street, Cambridge, MA.

Learning the Ropes: Using Wooden Props and Resting with Support

Saturday, December 11, 2010,

1:30-4.00pm. $35

Since I practice with Nancy Turnquist in the very basic but practical South End Yoga Studio and since I’m an Accessory Girl at heart, it would be nice to have a chance to have a session with access to the full monty selection of Iyengar props, ropes and gizmo’s. Unfortunately I can’t go this weekend, but for yoga folk who want to see what I’m talking about when I’m raving about Alignment Focused Yoga styles, book now, as space is limited due to quantity of props…

BKS Iyengar

Happy Birthday to You (Repeat), Happy Birthday Dear BKS Iyengar, Happy Birthday to you…

Sunday, December 12, 2010 care of Boston’s IY HQ

2:00 – 5:00 pm at St. Mary’s Church, 8 Inman Street in Central Square, Cambridge

Not sure what’s going on but I’m sure there’s cake involved… and the IY website promises to update with further details…

Lighting the Spark of Practice

Saturday, December 18th, 20101:30-4:00pm. $35

My idea of yoga heaven, amazing verbal visual instruction with sequencing or in other words ‘Flow’. If today’s Iyengar class was anything to go by, where I was able to practice a sweat producing Mountain Pose in a non-heated room, I know this is not going to be a ubiquitous flow class… and for me a Dooezie…

Seriously guys there is more to yoga than Flow, Hot Yoga, Power Flow and now Hippity Hoppity Yoga… as much as I love to transform, twist and look + use yoga from a different perspective, the best variants always have a solid understanding of foundation. You can’t get more foundational than the Father of Yoga in the West, as we know it, that of BKS Iyengar’s Yoga philosophy… Hope you’re as curious as I + that I will see you there…

WHG, an expert in all things, shoes + heels + fitting yoga into a busy lifestyle…

PS This is not an in depth research of ALL the possible City of Boston, Iyengar Yoga Happenings this month, if there are any IY practioners, teachers or Yoga fonts of knowledge who know of some more going on within the city, feel free to let us know…
