War Stories of my battles with 21 days of Corpse Pose… Day One…

So, I lightheartedly signed myself up to 21.5.800 to commit at least 15 minutes a day in Corpse Pose/Savasana. Per Bindu WilesIf you are wondering if you should do Savasana, I’ll say this: Rest is wildly and tragically under-utilized and under-valued in the modern world. We push and push and push ourselves to the point of exhaustion and then we drink more coffee to keep up with our lives. So.If you are fried, hate yoga, have several children under the age of three, just had a root canal, are exhausted, and/or are energetically behind the eight-ball in every way, PLEASE DO SAVASANA FOR THE 21 DAYS. I promise you the pose will do it’s magic.”

I know my ADD doctor would like me to get at least 8 hours of sleep, yeah right, but here Bindu promises it will “do… magic”. Since buying out my business partner, 2008, I have been known to do a fair amount of yoga, 2-3 times a week in a studio & recently added 2-3 times a week using Yogaglo.com at home, I have become very aware of the magic of Yoga, and I like to share it with my favourite people & new Plank Fans. My peeps are used to some of my unique perspective on clothes, parenting etc… I don’t get bent out of shape if they find wearing socks with sandals not quite their thing. However, Plank AAPPs – Awareness+Application=Plank’sPerspective, my convergence and application of the tools I learn in Yoga Classes and I apply to my everyday activities, if they take the opportunity to give them a go, before putting up their Yoga YadaYadaYada Walls, can actually be surprisingly useful.

Even though I’ve Got Yoga Down more or less, I’m quite insatiable about learning more; A a Product Developer/Serial Upgrader and from a body & physical perspective, the design of the human inner + outer body is so amazingly well put together, the body can truly self-heal. Literally self Upgrade, how fabtastic is that. In some ways my job here could be done, but few rarely apply the tools they learn, not in the yoga studio, not in life, so perhaps, I’ll stick around a bit longer, sharing what I like to share…

So, the meditating, spiritual stuff, if it comes along, I always considered as a Brucie Bonus, I do my bit at the end of class, I’m Corpsing all the time, eerr rewind, not so much. Well not as much as this Corpse Challenge is outlining, actually I commit a couple of mins at the end of a real live class & then sometimes an Antsy Savasana at the end of an online class, if the instructor is not adding any commentary during those last couple of minutes. I start to wonder if the streaming’s stopped and I keep waking up from the dead, to check the monitor. Being at home, if I make it to the end of the physical poses, with busy schedules and the like, it’s easy to skip Corpse pose at the end of my online Yogaglo class, when there are no eyes judging…

I like the premise of a mini-Savasana+writing challenge, cos I’ve got a lot of junk in my trunk that needs emptying, and I know me sorta better now, with the oodles of Self Help that I undertake, I know I’ll be doing some converging and perspective shifting when it comes to battling with meditation…

This Well-Heeled Guru’s first attempt will be with the use of a Yogaglo Meditation class, Isabelle du Soliel, what a brilliant name…

Here goes, let’s see how much clearer my day will be… Actually, I was thinking of doing a morning guided med class, seeing as I went to bed at 2am & woke at 5. On a normal night’s sleep, my ADD mind always needs settling nevermind a nap…  to be continued…

This morning dragging, ratty & Moody Mother Before Mat-time, after 3 hours sleep & now, 12 hours later, after my YG guided meditation class, without any antsiness, the world energies of united Yoga and Meditation must have conspired to put me in a good mood and give me an energy boost. Three of my fave people dropped me a little Facebook love, which is rare. Twitter love, from The Hillary Rubin, encouraging me onwards with the challenge & Yogaglo.com saying a howdeedoodee and thanks for your suggestions… Some wholesale love, even some wows, you rock, as a result of my summer intern whose fully-loaded with enthusiasm and initiative, family dinner time without any threats or negotiation… If this is Day 1, I’m kinda liking the Value For Time Exchange Rate…  15 minutes out of 720 mins, so far and alls well, by the time I go to bed, it will be less than 2% of the day spent in Corpse pose and the end result, is a happy, relatively productive me… or at least one that’s not kicking herself for not achieving everything she wanted to do… Bring on the challenge, this is going to sooo easy…
